Body Styles
The biggest decision to make it what kind of 2020 Mazda3 model you want to drive. There are a hatchback model and a sedan. Both are powered by the same 2.5-liter engine, capable of producing 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. They’re also available with i-Activ AWD® and all of the same features.
The hatchback offers more cargo room than the sedan, though, 20.1 cubic feet of space versus 13.2 cubic feet in the sedan. The trim level selection is also a bit different. We’ll get to that in a moment.
Trim Levels
There are four Mazda3 trim levels available:
- The 2020 Mazda3 sedan base trim level offers features like driver attention warning and an 8.8-inch infotainment display.
- Upgrading to the Select model gets you some more features, including Apple CarPlay™, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
- The Preferred trim level begins to add luxury features, like heated front seats and a premium audio system from Bose®.
- Finally, the top-level Premium trim adds leather seating and advanced safety technologies, including a head-up display and an adaptive front-lighting system.
The hatchback configuration is available with all of these features, but its base trim level is similar to the sedan’s Select model. Drivers can upgrade the Hatchback to the Preferred and Premium trim levels if they prefer a slightly higher-end experience.
